Advocacy
The Portland Society of Architects promotes progress and economic development of Greater Portland by encouraging innovation and vision in design and planning. PSA involves a wide range of individuals and businesses in working toward this common goal.
 
The PSA Advocacy Committee testified before the Portland Community Development Committee regarding Maine State Pier development proposals and has commented on issues of urban density related to several projects in Portland.
 
The Advocacy Committee prepared a critical analysis of the Design Guidelines proposed for the Bayside neighborhood and will continue to present position papers to the City’s Planning Board on key development issues.

Membership &
Communication
The Membership & Communication Committee is responsible for recruiting, enrolling and serving the members of the Portland Society of Architects. The Membership & Communication Committee offers committee members the opportunity to engage the community in the mission of the PSA and play a critical role in sustaining its fulfillment.

Programs
Education Committee mission: To assist in educating the Students, Members, and the
Community-at-Large in understanding, evaluating and supporting Design Excellence in Architecture.

We will accomplish this through:
• Guest Critiques/Mentorship Programs/Classes for Students;
• Workshops/Tours of Architects’ Offices/Guest Speakers/Discussions of Current Projects on the Boards for Members;
• Architectural Tours/Public Events for the Community-at-Large

The Events Committee will be responsible for hosting Portland Society of Architects events that promote and support the mission of the organization. Many of the PSA events will be in conjunction with other Committee’s programs.
