Full Draft is Released – February 2017: The City’s Planning & Urban Development Department is pleased to release the full draft of Portland’s new comprehensive plan. The document, entitled Portland’s Plan, was drafted over the last year+, with the help and participation of dozens of stakeholder groups and the comments of thousands of interested citizens. The result provides an overview of the direction of the City for the coming 10 years.

The draft plan is available for review on the City’s website:http://www.portlandmaine.gov/1861/11844/Draft-Comprehensive-Plan-Documents

Public comments, questions, suggestions are welcome and encouraged. Please send comments on the drafts to portlandsplan@portlandmaine.gov.

Planning staff are happy to meet with groups interested in discussing the Comprehensive Plan in more depth as well. Requests for such meetings can also be sent to portlandsplan@portlandmaine.gov, or you’re always free to contact me directly at cdg@portlandmaine.gov or 207-874-8608.

Days, times and locations for an community forum and a Planning Board public hearing to review Portland’s Plan will be announced shortly. The Planning Board, and ultimately the City Council, will hold hearings on the new plan, and ultimately the plan will be forwarded to the State to be reviewed for consistency with the State’s Growth Management Act, prior to adoption.
