PSA Brown Bag 2018 Tour Series: 8/1 Roux Center for the Environment at Bowdoin College
August 1, 2018 @ 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
‘School’s out for the summer‘ is our 2018 theme for the PSA Brown Bag Tours. During mid-July through mid- August we have planned tours of a variety of educational institution typologies (from grade school to pre-graduate studies) that push the boundaries of innovation, high-performance and excellence in design: Waynflete’s Lower School in Portland, The Roux Center for the Environment at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, and the Maine Coast Waldorf High School in Freeport.
‘School’s out for the summer‘ continues with an extraordinary tour of a new environment for learning.
The Roux Center for the Environment will support faculty and students across the environmental disciplines at Bowdoin College. Its design is intended to facilitate a new way of teaching, learning and scholarship and will leverage the interdisciplinary pedagogy already common among academic departments envisioned as users of the facility. As a center of environmental education, the facility will also serve as a teaching lab of sustainable and innovative building technologies.
The building is a new three-story 29,167 sf academic building located at the corner of Harpswell Road and College Street. The project is designed to meet Platinum LEED certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. The center will open in the fall of 2018.
