PSA is involved with the Portland Public School District Rapid Response Outdoor Classroom initiative
PSA, in partnership with AIA Maine and BSLA, has secured 14 local design teams for the Portland Public School District Rapid Response Outdoor Classroom Initiative, creating ideas and opportunities for all Portland public schools for teachers and students to practice social distancing. Each volunteer team has worked with individual principals to inventory school sites and draft design interventions that are now in review. We anticipate some hybrid approach for a potential rapid response build-out.
This initiative, spear-headed by Laura Newman, and inclusive of many community partners, is based on the national Program out of Oakland, CA Green School Yards.
